Geck-e - Out Of This World

A stunning Geck-e release is out now in all digital dance shops!

The release combines many genres like ambient, house and hardstyle into five completely different tracks.

Bacteria is a track that really gets to your nerves, supported by a solid beat. Out Of This World takes you on a pumping trip, making you look at the world from another perspective. Paradise Falls tells a surreal story of a beautiful, lovely place that you can't get out of. Dead Awake... take the title and the music, creat your own story! As the last, but not least track, Invisible Toothpaste is a funny track with a summer vibe (played at Defqon.1 Festival!).

New website online!

I had the idea of renewing my website for a long time, and finally I did it! LOL

The old website simply could not hold all the info that needed to be on there. With the new design every part of the website got it's own page, while it was on one page before. The music player now actually has a playlist, so you can really see what you're listening to. ;)

A very handy feature is that you can see my upcoming gigs and radio sets. Previous radio sets can also be downloaded now.

Geck-o & Phrantic - The Hard Way

Recently two vinyls containing tracks of mine have been released! :D

The vinyl that a lot of people have been waiting for is AVIO E.P. volume 3, with Geck-o & Phrantic - The Hard Way on it. It's out now both digitally and on 12" vinyl, so grab your copy at your favorite store!

Another record, which less people know about, is Louk & Busho's 15 Volts on Compulzion, including the remix I made of their track Believe. I think this remix is a very strong hardstyle track that combines oldschool drive with modern production. Available now at many vinyl shops! A digital release will follow later. :)

Biography

A nice 3rd person story about me

Geck-o is in real life Rik van Dam, born in 1989. He lives in IJsselstein, a small city in The Netherlands. His impressive studio - or better said: his bedroom is the place where he composes his masterpieces (LOL). Well, let's start with the beginning.

His love for electronic dance music developed at a young age. He learned to play the keyboard, most of the time using his favorite "techno" preset :+ When trance became a hype, he was hooked by it, the drive and the energy of this music gave such a nice feeling. His taste developed, and moved on to hardtrance. Tracks from Flutlicht & Shokk were his favorites, but tracks like DJ Isaac - On The Edge, DJ Stardust - Stompin' Jack Flash (Giada Remix), DJ Vortex & Arpa's Dream - Incoming (Arome Remix) and the German sounds of Überdruck and Tracid Traxx introduced him to the early sounds of hardstyle. _O_

The promo mix for Qlimax 2003 made the switch complete. Builder - Skyscraper and Blutonium Boy - Hardstyle Instructor were so awesome: raw sounds combined with energy and driving basslines, not to forget the awesome vocal tricks. He took a dive into the wonderful world of hardstyle, and discovered lots of huge tracks. He knew this was going to be his favorite music for a very long time!

As the time passed by, he got deeper into the sound and learned a lot about it, listening to livesets and keeping up with new releases. In the beginning of 2007 he felt he was ready for it, and he started producing himself. Learning the basics took some time, but he developed quickly. In 2008 his music was getting serious quality, leading to his first release, on Explosive Records Italy: Hallucinating. And this was just the beginning! :)

In 2009, Geck-o contacted Theracords, a label that claimed to produce music from the heart. He got to know DJ Thera and discovered this claim was not a lie - this label was all about passion for the music! Geck-o did what his heart told him to do and he signed with this awesome upcoming label. Through various releases - Smasher, Alliance, Seduction, Full Force - he saw the label grow bigger and bigger, eventually leading to DJ performances in Belfast and The Netherlands.

The real breakthrough came in 2010. The label was booming this year with releases like Give Me Some Heat, Trespassing and Mindblowing Music, leading to more bookings and putting the name of Geck-o on the map. Next to the activities on Theracords, he released some remixes on good old 12" Vinyl, aswell as his track with Phrantic called The Hard Way. This one was released on the great label AVIO records and became a popular track in the hardstyle scene.

Besides producing hardstyle as Geck-o, he produces other kinds of music, not bound to rules. These projects go under the alias Geck-e, with the e of experimental. ;)

Some of these tracks will be given out for free, so check the download section of this site to download them! Others will be released on the sublabel of Theracords, called Therabyte.
